Since August 2000, ECOA
is an EN-45011 accredited
control body according to the EU-accreditation system.
ECOA is currently registered under No. DAP-ZE-3315.00 of
the German Accreditation Council.
This accreditation
authorizes ECOA to carry out conformity assessments in the
fields of plants and plant products from agricultural production or
harvest, gathering of eatable wild plants, processing and export of plant
products and foodstuffs composed of plant products from organic production,
manufactured according to Regulation
(EC) No.
834/2007;
EC 889/2008 & EC 1235/2008 on organic production of
agricultural products and indications referring thereto on agricultural
products and foodstuffs.
In April 2004, the scope of ECOA accreditation has been expanded to
include the GLOBALG.A.P. "Fruit and Vegetables" protocol. In May
2004, ECOA has been granted a full recognition by FoodPLUS
GmbH as a GLOBALG.A.P. approved certification
body.
ECOA is also an active member
of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movement (IFOAM)
since 1998.
